Safety Coursework Survey for Summer 2020
Safe Operation of Tractors and Machinery
TENTATIVE Dates- July 20-23, 2020
Elmwood Schools would like to offer a “Safe Operation of Tractors and Machinery” course again this summer. Due to the current uncertainty related to COVID-19 policies, we are unsure how the state-mandated 24 hours of instruction will be structured related to in-person, virtual, hands-on driving opportunities, and actual driver’s test. This may depend upon the number of interested students. Participating youth who will work for an employer other than parent/guardian must be 14 years of age or older. Those who will work only for a parent/guardian, need to be at least 12 years of age on the first day class.
Dates To Be Determined After DNR Allows Registering Students
We would also like to offer the Hunter Safety course, as in the past. Again, due to the current uncertainty related to COVID-19 policies, we are unsure how the state-mandated 19 hours of instruction will be structured related to in-person, virtual, hands-on opportunities, and the actual written/field tests. This may depend upon the number of interested students so we would like to have an idea how many students may be interested in participating. State regulations do not state a minimum age for participation. However, the instructors strongly encourage students to be 12 years of age, or older, during the year it is taught. At the time of writing this, the DNR is not allowing registration of students in their system so tentative dates can not be offered at this time.
If interested in either/or both of these classes, please contact Jeff Pickerign at email@example.com or (715) 639-2711.
