Paul E. Blanford, Ed.D.
I am pleased to be the Superintendent of the School District of Elmwood. The 2014-2015 school year will mark my 6th year here in Elmwood; the 5th year here as Superintendent.
The School District of Elmwood is a great place for students to learn and experience many things over the course of their time in school. We continue to expand our technology infrastructure to offer a wide variety of opportunities to our students. Our teachers continue to develop their instructional skills by attending workshops, taking courses, and by developing networks with other educators. In recent years, we have been very fortunate to recruit talented new/experienced teachers to replace retiring veteran teachers and to fill other open positions. We continue to upgrade our curriculum and to improve on how we deliver education to our students. Over the course of their education here in Elmwood, students experience many field trips and activities that enhance their lives and their character. Small class sizes afford students more individualized attention. Elmwood Schools provides students what they need to succeed.
In 2013, the School District of Elmwood engaged our community through the strategic planning process. We continue to utilize the strategic plan by implementing the goals set forth in the plan. In these changing times of a global economy and tremendous advances in technology, we recognize that we will need to change how we prepare our students for their future. It is difficult to predict what jobs/careers will be in demand in the next 20 years; however, we can make adjustments to how we prepare our students to ensure that they will have the skills necessary to adapt to the ever-changing world. We have engaged our community, gathered input and ideas, and are now using this information to guide us into the future. Thank you to the Elmwood Community for your continued support and input.
