Paul E. Blanford, Ed.D.
I am pleased to be the Superintendent of the School District of Elmwood. The 2012 - 2013 school year will be my third year here as Superintendent.
The School District of Elmwood provides a great place for students to learn and experience many things over the course of their time in school. We continue to develop our technology infrastructure to offer a wider array of opportunities to our students. Our teachers continue to develop their instructional skills by attending workshops, taking courses, and by developing networks with other educators. We continue to upgrade our curriculum and to improve on the ways that we teach and deliver education to our students.
Over the course of their education here in Elmwood, students go on many field trips and participate in many activities that enhance their lives and their character. Because of our small class sizes, students are able to get more individualized attention and have more opportunities to participate in activities. We are fortunate to have a community that supports our schools and helps to provide these opportunities.
We are now engaging our community to seek input on ways to make our school district even better. In these changing times of the global economy and tremendous advances in technology, we need to recognize that we will need to change how we prepare our students for their future. It is difficult to predict what jobs/careers will be in demand in the next 20 years; however, we can make adjustments to how we prepare our students so that they will have the skills necessary to be knowledgeable and flexible enough to adjust to the ever-changing world. Through a "Strategic Planning Process" we are engaging our community, gathering input and ideas, and we will use this information to guide us into the future.
