Hello! My name is Jeff Pickerign and I am the Elmwood Agri-Science Teacher. I graduated from Menomonie High School, and then earned a Bachelor and Masters Degree in Agricultural Education, minored in Animal Science and completed teacher certification for Life Science/Biology through UW-River Falls
My classes include Science (Grades 6-8) and High School Agriscience with Plants/Landscaping, Animal Science, Small Engines, Food Science, Horticulture, Forestry/Wildlife, Mechanics, Biotechnology, and Leadership. I also offer a new course called Introduction to Soils where students complete a significant amount of learning online, and then may receive High School and Technical College Credit with satisfactory completion. I advise the Middle School and High School FFA, serve as a class advisor, teach Tractor Safety, instruct Hunter Safety, and am the School Forest Director.
My wife, Liz, and our two children, Jacob and Emily, live, work and play right here in the Elmwood School District. I enjoy time with family, fishing, hunting, traveling and supporting the Elmwood Raiders. I was born a Packer fan, and recently started cheering for the Twins. My travels have taken me to Korea, China, Hong Kong, Canada, and many of the United States. Our school is filled with many good people, young and young-at-heart, and I appreciate the opportunity to teach in the Elmwood School District.
