BASIC ART - (9-12) (.5 credit) This course will explore a variety of materials and topics in art. Students will be given the opportunity to create both 2-D and 3-D works of art. The content of the material will allow students to gain an appreciation of a variety of areas including: drawing, sculpture, printmaking, textiles, ceramics, painting and are history. The entire course is intended to allow students the chance to discover the various mediums, areas and careers in art. Exposure and practice to all areas of art will provide the foundation requirements for other art courses.

DESIGN - (9-12) (.5 credit) (Prerequisite: Basic Art) In this course we will take an in-depth approach to the fundamentals of design. The elements of are (line, shape, space, color, value and texture) along with the principles of art (repetition, contrast, variety, dominance, emphasis, direction, rhythm and balance-unity) will be studies and used to create a better understanding of how to seek visual solutions which is often called the design process. In this course you will work with numerous design areas such as: drawing , computer art, photography, graphic design, industrial design, apparel and mixed medias.
DRAWING/PAINTING - (10-12) (.5 credit) (Prerequisite: Basic Art) This course will review the design elements, namely: line, shape, space, color, value, texture and form with an emphasis on the design principles of balance, unity, proportion, variety, rhythm, repetition, dominance, contrast, opposition and transition, The course is designed as a studio based class in which students will be given the opportunity to further develop his/her skills in creating 2-D works of art.
CERAMICS & SCULPTURE - (10-12) (.5 credit) (Prerequisite: Basic Art). This course is semester long and will be broken down into two 9 week sections (one section will be ceramics and the other sculpture). The entire course is designed for you to gain an appreciation for 3-D works of art and further develop your skills in creating 3-D works of art.
GLOBAL ART - (10-12) (.5 credit) (Prerequisite: Basic Art) This course will explore a variety of customs in art from around the world. The course will involve an introduction to art history and the projects that we do will revolve around a variety of time periods, famous artists and movements in art.
